I put my serial correctly – why do I get an ‘invalid’ error?
Most likely the domain name you entered when you placed your Ultimento order doesn’t exactly match the domain name you are actually using on your Magento installation.
Common examples
A common example is when your Magento store’s base URL is “store.site.com” but “site.com” is the URL that’s licensed for Ultimento. Technically these are 2 different URLs so you’d want to make sure to provide us with the correct URL. Another example is if your Magento installation is set in a sub-directory such as “site.com/magento” for example – in that case you’d have to make sure that “site.com/magento” is licensed (and not just “site.com”).
How can I check what’s my Magento base URL?
You can manage your Magento base URL via your Magento admin:
System > Configuration > Web > Unsecure URL > Base URL
Pretty simple huh?
One thing to keep in mind though is that you can’t change your Magento Base URL to a URL that does not point to your Magento root installation!
So for example if you have Magento installed in your domain root folder at “site.com”, you can’t simply put “http://site.com/magento/” in the Base URL field in the Magento admin. And vice-versa. But if “site1.com” also points to your root folder (as is the case if you’re running multiple sites from a single Magento installation) – then you can safely have “http://site1.com/” as the Base URL in your Magento admin.
I hope that makes sense! If you need, you can change or add more URLs to your license.
How can I check that the serial is entered correctly?
- In your Magento admin, click on Ultimento > Settings
- On the upper left corner, under “Current Configuration Scope” select your store view (lowest scope level)
- Under “Ultimento serial” un-check the “use website” check-box and enter your unique serial code that was sent to your email and click on “Save Config”

I get: It looks like Ultimento isn’t properly setup at “default”! Make sure all the files are uploaded and make sure your serial is correct for this storeview.
The serial is correct as we’ve been using it for the past several months for our dev site. All the themes, etc are all correct.
Hi Jason,
The serial may have been valid for your dev site but not for your live site if it’s on a different URL – are you sure your license includes the dev URL as well as the live URL? The easiest would be to tell me what URL you have exactly under “System > Configuration > Web > URL > Unsecure > Unsecure Base URL” and I’ll check your license.
Thanks!
Noam.
Hello,
I have installed the Ultimento Max version with 5 domain licenses. I entered http://www.collectinvest.com as the domain at checkout. My temporary test domain is http://collecti.nexcess.net. Does this need to be added to a list on your end? Do I need to email each time I add or change one of the remaining domains as well? Please let me know. I get the same error Jason gets when I login to Magento. Immediately after installation the site looked fine and seemed to work fine. No changes have been made since, but it is now pretty scrambled. Please feel free to have a look at http://collecti.nexcess.net/ to make sure the display problems are also related to the domain being improperly registered.
Thank you,
Tom
Hi tom – yes every URL that you use as your Magento store’s “Base URL” needs to be licensed to use Ultimento on that store. Just let us know when you need to add a URL to your license or change one and we’ll take care of that for you.
I added the URL you requested – just re-save the serial over and it will work right away!
Thanks,
Noam.
Hi, ever since we switch to SSL (we are using a Jumpbox) we are getting
It looks like Ultimento’s serial is not correct for ‘j9sartdepotenglish’. Fix it to enable Ultimento on ‘j9sartdepotenglish’.
I deinstalled and One-Click-Installed it against the store again, but keep getting the same error message.
Can you please assist
Thanks,
Dante
Hi Dante – it doesn’t seem to be related to Ultimento in any way. Looking at your Magento site it looks like it’s looking for some files in a “m” theme directory at some other IP address – and these files all return a 404 not found.
What kind of Magento setup do you have? Open a new ticket via your account center and send me your Magento admin and FTP info and I’ll see if I can help.
Thanks!
Noam, what you are seeing is “Fooman_Speedster”. We have this extension in for a while and did not experience an issues. I checked it (for example https://www.j9sartdepot.com/skin/m/1302005267/js/prototype/prototype.js) and it works fine.
I also noticed that after a while the Design for the Website gets set away from Ultimento to default .. is that something Ultimento would be doing ?
Strangely enough I am not getting the error message in admin anymore .. that is without me doing something. Very strange
Thanks for your help
Hi Dante – I see that now your site loads fine. What I saw yesterday is not what you mentioned – it was calling the files from an IP address and they were all returning a 404.
Regarding the other issue – most likely it’s an issue with proper Magento configuration. Go ahead and open a ticket via your account center’s help desk with your Magento admin and FTP info and I’ll take a look at your Magento installation.
Thanks!
Hi I need my dev domain added to my licence. My licensed domain is mybestbuys.com.au and dev domain is mybestbu.nexcess.net
Hi Jason – not a problem! I updated your license with your dev URL. Just let me know when you need to switch back.
ok, still getting this error: “It looks like Ultimento’s serial is not correct for ‘admin’. Fix it to enable Ultimento on ‘admin’.”
disregard previous comment, typo in the serial number. No longer getting errors but the theme is not displaying. It’s displaying the content but not the theme

Hi, I get “It looks like Ultimento isn’t properly setup at “default”! Make sure all the files are uploaded and make sure your serial is correct for this storeview.”
Under your recomendation, I changed hosts for better magento operation, so I think my licence maybe need to be also changed? Can you verify? Base url under web = http://www.wrapitsendit.com/
Done! I updated your license
. Let me know if you need anything else.
Hi Noam, I changed the URL from ecostar-europe.com/magento to magento.ecostar-europe.com as we discussed. Guess our license needs to be updated with this URL as well?
best regard Patrick
Hi Haas – done! I updated your license
. Let me know if you need anything else and make sure to go through the troubleshooting checklist if you run into any issues.
Hi Noam,
Could you please add eden-health-products.com to fill my fifth license spot
Thanks

Hi Support
I got a same error message “It looks like Ultimento isn’t properly setup at “default”!”.
This happen after I turn on the Magento iphone theme. The iphone theme and Ultimento theme were working for a few days but today it comes up the error message and the web site reset to the Magento default theme. I had to deleted the Add Exception for the iphone theme setting and clear the cache then it is working again. Any suggetion to fix this issue?
I use Magento 1.5.1 and Ultimento 1.6. The iphone theme is the Magento default iphone theme and I use it without any modification.
Regards
Daniel
Hey Daniel,
It could be a number of things. If you’ve already gone through this troubleshooting page without success can you open up a ticket and give us your Magento and FTP credentials (address, user, password) and we’ll take a look?
Thanks,
