Having the “new products” section on the home page is nice, but how would I go about having custom sections added.
Ultimately, I’d like to have custom sections added where I can control which products show up there like:
Gift Items, Top Sellers, June Specials
or something to that effect.
Hey Gizmo,
You can control which products show up in that section of the site by modifying the dates each product is “featured” in the Magento Admin Panel. There are a number of ways you could potentially customize this code, but that’s definitely beyond the scope of this forum.

Hi,
I’d also like more choices when putting products on the homepage other than just “New Products.”
For now, I’m creating categories for things like Gift Items and using this:
– {{block type=”catalog/product_list” name=”home.catalog.product.list” category=”1″ alias=”products_homepage” template=”catalog/product/list.phtml”}}
and using the ‘category=XYZ’ to pull the categories onto the homepage. Not a great solution, because it also pulls in the category navigation — but it is better than nothing.

I installed the discussion tab but must have done something wrong as everything works fine except the comments dont show in the frontend. You got any ideas on how I should fix this?

Hi, I’ve removed the 3 folders (skin, js, app) and uploaded the new folders along with the 4 item ultimento_cms one…..now when I go back to my magento admin log in page…..I get an error that’s says error in redirecting page…. Please help

I think we have you covered in help desk tickets too so we prefer helping you through that channel. However, if you removed the ENTIRE app, js and skin folder you deleted too much. You were only meant to delete the Ultimento files within those folders.

I have searched your website and I can’t find an answer to this question. The “Powered by Ultimento” suddenly appears in the copyright field. I change it, then a few weeks pass and it comes back. We are currently running Magento 1.5.1. How can I fix this recurring issue?

This footer link is programmed to persist if you’re on Ultimento Standard and it can only be removed on Plus and Max. This could also be a problem if you’re on older code and missing some patches. Can you open up a ticket and confirm your version and order number?

Hi Joanna,
You don’t have to do anything for the rich snippets. It is already automatically enabled. That also goes for speed and SEO. I added a 5th footer tab, when I click on the all the old tabs they work fine and then when I click the new tab it shows fine but after click the new tab then clicking the old tabs it adds a second row of footer content to them. (but not a second row of content to the new tab)
I changes this line in styles.css
.ult-footer-tabs li{float:left;width:249px}
to
.ult-footer-tabs li{float:left;width:197px}
and I also added a 5th footer tab in the ult-footer-tabs static block.
How can I prevent the second row from showing up? Thanks.

Exploding menu also isn’t working on a 1.6.2 Magento install. Are there any extra configurations needed? I searched all over the Commative site and cannot find any instructions.

Exploded menus don’t require any configuration and have been tested on 1.6.2. Do you have some other menu extensions that are perhaps conflicting?

We would like to display the Product Description, More Information, Also Recommended, etc in a vertical list instead of the tabs that are currently used on the Product page. How can this be done?

i have a product on my home page – a pink tee, which has been reviewed (5 stars – yay!) BUT the stars DON’T appear on the home page – only on the product page – what do i need to do? I did ask but no reply yet so will try again – perhaps you’re taking a well earned break!

When we appy 3.1 and add downloadable products the theme changes so that the buy button goes way down the page. If our product has 25 images then the buy button drops down so far it can’t be seen without scrolling.
What can we do so that the buy button appears like it does with physical products.

This is actually very inline with what Magento itself does by default. You can certainly modify it if you like to look like other product pages, but you’d want to edit the view.phtml file in your backend to do it.

Why is it when customers press the “more information” tab button on our Ultimento template product pages it shows the customers the COST. You are never supposed to show customers your cost. Why does Ultimento do this. It seams non sensical.

If you click on the the more information tab on the bottom of any product page it brings up COST. If I leave the cost out of magento it reads “COST. NO”. I can not put cost of items in the Magento back end because they show up on the Ultimento 2.2 template in this way. It has been this way since the install of Ultimento. I have not modified the Ultimento template so this must be a default settings?

The “more information” tab is set to display custom product fields, Cost is not one of them. It looks like it may be a field you added? Is it located under the Prices sub-category? If not then it’s a custom field and you should be able to just delete it or leave it blank.

I would like to improve the layered navigation:
instead of the attribute id in the url, I would like the attribute value (text) to be displayed – this is mostly meant for manufacturers
My ideal goal would be having a friendly url like “domain.com/products/apple” but “domain.com/products?manufacturer=apple” might be fine as well.
To be honest I thought this was already included in Ultimento

You’re right, that is already part of Ultimento. If you check out our demo site you’ll see that is how the domains are built out. Have you made any changes to your Magento setup that may have disabled this feature? Also, you have to make sure you have URL rewrites enabled in your Apache configuration for this setting to take effect.

It’s actually working for categories and sub-categories, but not on attributes.
I will check with our company if Apache rewrite is enabled.

HI Ultimento – we just upgraded both Ultimento and Magento – both are great BUT we can get rich snippets to display an image in a google search. Is there a way to control rich snippets? I understand google needs to see some code so how do we control that code? And How does Ultimento apply rich snippets code? I want to make the best use of this but don’t fully understand my options.

Hey Ralph,
Rich Snippets are totally built in to Ultimento, there’s nothing to customize. If you check out the Ultimento Features page you’ll see a link to the Google page on rich snippets so that you can see exactly how pages are interpreted for Rich Snippets. You can try your own URLs here to see how they fare. If you’re not getting what you expect do you have customizations or other extensions that may be conflicting?

Hey Dave,
All of Magento (Ultimento or otherwise) is programmed to show sub-sub categories in the menus. If it didn’t how would you ever navigate to them? You could certainly customize Magento to disable display of certain levels of categories, but its not anything you can do out of the box since it’s a rather unique request. We offer custom work packages if you’re interested in having us do this.

Make sure you’re changing the name of home2/3 to “home” if you want it to show up as the main page. That should do it.

Now, I saw that you have a css folder but some of of the positioning data and height was inside the content area of the blocks, why is that?

This is getting a bit more detailed than a general forum is intended for, but to cover the basics…
If certain changes/settings don’t need to be global sometimes it makes more sense to put CSS elements only locally.
Making the homepage use different pictures is a combination of HTML. It’s entirely possible, but more general web coding and not anything specific to Magento.
Not sure what grey bar you’re talking about, but you can comment out the code depending on where it is or modify it with CSS.

Can we remove the “Powered by Ultimento” ?

If you have Ultimento Plus or Max you can remove the “Powered by Ultimento” footer, but it is a requirement of Ultimento Basic. If you’re one one of those two versions you can remove the message by following the instructions at http://commative.com/support/How_do_I_remove_the_Powered_by_Ultimento_link_from_the_footer_.html.
