It’s known that category landing pages are a great tool to promote your catalog, run promotions, and provide direct access to specific sub categories and products that yield a good ROI.

Magento is very well prepared for category landing pages and Ultimento 1.6 fully leverages this functionality! We’re really excited to introduce 2 category landing page templates that you can use on your Magento store to boost your sales and conversion rates! Not to mention many of the SEO benefits ;) .

Two column category landing page:

The 2-column category landing page template is ideal if you want to keep the layered navigation and the other items on the left column. Here’s what it looks like:

One column category landing page:

We also wanted to include a 1-column category landing page with a completely different design and layout. Take a look:

    • Nice fade-in / fade-out effects
    • Easily extendable to any number of categories (currently setup with 3 sub categories)
  • Unique design templates
  • CSS3 powered – yet fully cross browser compatible
  • Search engine optimized
  • Developed for speed!
  • Versatile and very easy to customize
  • As always – 100% open source
  • And more!

Live demo:

Check out the 2 column category landing page and the 1 column one on Ultimento’s live demo!

I’m sold! How do I use them on my Magento store?

In the latest Ultimento 1.6 these 2 category landing pages get automatically added to your Magento admin back-end via Ultimento’s 1-click auto-installer! Using them is then just a matter of following the quick steps to enable Ultimento’s category landing pages.

If you’re running a previous version of Ultimento, you can still use the new category landing pages ;) . Just check out this section of the post.

Hey, have you fixed the blank page in System > Configuration > Noam Design > General yet? I’m still unaware if there’s meant to be anything on this page.

    Thanks,

    Josh.

I’m still getting the problem though…

    When I go to https://domain.co.uk/index.php/admin/system_config/edit/section/ultnotes/key/...

    the page is blank :/

Did you make sure to follow the update instructions carefully? Including refreshing the cache etc… It’s working perfectly on my end.

If you’re still experiencing an issue with that feel free to send us your Magento admin and FTP info via the help desk and we’ll take a look ;) .

  3. Joshua Geake says:

Yup, cache is actually disabled. I’ll put up a support ticket.

Cache being disabled is not enough ;) . You still need to clear it, log out and log back in the admin. But we’ll look at your installation and get back to you.

    Hi Noam,

How do I add extra categories to the one column category landing page?

    • noam says:

Hi Ian – sorry I don’t understand the question. Where exactly on the 1-column landing page do you want to “add extra categories”?

  5. Ian says:

    Hi Noam,

On the landing page we have 3 big blocks with an image and 8 links, the first one is for Computers and has the text
    Visibly Smart Performance.
Now featuring your favorite brands. Your favorite new toy is just a click away!

I would like to add some more of them, I tried duplicating them but it messes up the page layout.

Hi Ian – if you want to do more than use the demo content of the category landing page as a placeholder for your own content, you can easily customize the layout, design, sizes of the elements, etc… This is simple HTML but you will need to spend some time on it if you want to customize it.

Anyone with very basic HTML knowledge should be able to help you should you choose to customize the category landing page design rather than using it as is.
