Ultimento Magento Theme

Ultimento Magento Theme

We have been a bit quiet on the blog front this week, but with good reason: We are pleased to announce that Ultimento 3 has been released. It boasts a ton of new features and extensions including:

-          Exploding menu/Mega-menu extension that directly ties to the product categories on your standard Magento admin panel

-          Product carousel extension enables you to show more products on just one row so you don’t take up valuable real estate space

-          Rich snippets for improved SEO

-          Magento homepage slider extension has added functionality and spaces for promoting your company and products

-          Homepage Social Links bring Facebook and Google+ direct to your customers

-          Magento shopping cart extension gives you a dynamic drop down menu for easy access to the cart from any page

-          Pinterest is now part of product pag social bookmarks and marketing links

….And much more. We have also included two brand new Magento templates which have been significantly modified to make them easier to edit and customize. Almost all of your site’s content can now be edited directly through Magento’s Admin Panel.

We are mighty happy with this latest release. In fact, we decided to use it to power our own store.

Please check out our new demo site and reach out to us with your thoughts and comments.

Another milestone for Magento

Magento e-commerce share

Magento e-commerce share

We came across a recent blog post that further supports our enthusiasm for the Magento platform so we thought we’d share it with all of our customers and readers. In just four years or so, Magento has reached an estimated 20% market share within the top 1 million e-commerce sites according to Alexa. That is an amazing achievement in our opinion and we are pleased to be part of this growth.

We firmly believe this trend will continue and as a Magento Bronze solution partner, Commative is dedicated to this platform. This is the reason we keep working on new Magento themes and extensions and provide custom work where needed to help our customers get the best e-commerce site possible. Keep your ideas coming for future extensions and features… and don’t forget to stay tuned for upcoming product releases!

Best,

The Commative Team

Will Google punish SEO-optimization?

March 28, 2012

At last week’s South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX, Google made an unprecedented pre-announcement: Over the next few weeks and months, it will try to make Google search more relevant by limiting SEO over-optimization by “looking for those who abuse it, like too many keywords on a page, or exchange way too many links or go well beyond what you normally expect”.

We at Commative are fanatic about SEO since our customers often live or die by being found on Google so this was something we took note of. In typical Google fashion no further details on what will change or when was disclosed, so it leaves lots of room for rumors and guesses. The good news for our Ultimento customers is that if Google is looking to reward sites that offer relevant content and great customer experience, they should see little change – maybe even improvement. We believe our template is not only set up to be found on the web but also to provide the information and products that shoppers want.

As always, we recommend that our customers be careful with key word stuffing or black hat link building (ie don’t pay for links). We believe fresh, updated and relevant content is always going to be favored. And most importantly: Keep an eye on your ranking over the next few weeks to see if the new Google algorithm affects you.

As always, let us know if you have any observations you want to share with the Ultimento network.
